Internationally acclaimed production duo Booka Shade composed of Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier have launched their new album Galvany Street with the debut at Printworks London on Friday 7th April 2017. Performing the album live for the first time ever, Booka Shade took advantage of Printworks industrial setting and state-of-the art, bespoke AV system.
3 1/2 years after the release of their last studio album “Eve”, Booka Shade return with a new album, Galvany Street delivering exciting vocal collaborators and a brand new sound.
You might find the occasional up-tempo beat here and there but hardly any references to any Booka Shade music of the past. Last year´s MOVEMENTS 10, the 10-year anniversary of their milestone album, was the ultimate closure of a chapter, in which everything had been said and done in the realms of a trademark tech house & electro house sound.
One of the strongest points of GALVANY STREET is the fact, that many of these songs instantly create a feeling of familiarity, grab you, build an emotional connection and feel like songs that have been with you for years. At the same time the album sounds extremely fresh and 2017.
“GALVANY STREET is the album we wanted to write for a long time. The collaboration with Craig Walker brings in the perfect kind of vocals to complete the music.” (Arno Kammermeier)
Booka Shade – Galvany Street “We wanted to have something that’s brand new and different”
The album presented live last week also offered for the first time in Booka Shades career, a collaboration onstage with singer Craig Walker. ‘Babylon‘ was released as a first teaser single on March 03 as a 12-inch vinyl and in digital formats. The single includes special Single & Extended Versions, as well as the exclusive B-Side ‘Changes‘.
With their current album “Galvany Street”, Arno and Walter go back to their roots and start a musical new beginning. They are supported, among others, by singer Craig Walker, the Australian singer Yates and the London artist Daniel Spencer. On “Galvany Street” Booka Shade experiment with new sounds leaving the melodic tech or electro house of their past, behind. With over three years of production, their latest work is the longest-prepared album. Their common path was characterized by a long and intense search for a fresh sound without returning to their routine. “Galvany Street” creates an emotional familiarity, is fresh and modern, catchy and versatile.
The album is available on vinyl and cd, for download, streaming and also in STEMS format for DJs. Collectors can watch out for a limited edition 2xCD incl. 5 bonus tracks & versions, of which 2 are only to be found on the deluxe cd.
