Australia nominate your favourite recording for (NFSA)

What would you select if given the task of choosing songs to best represent Australia’s music history in 10 or 20 years time.

Each year, the NFSA asks Australians to nominate their favourite recording, with ten selected by a panel of experts to be added to the to the Sounds of Australia registry at the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA).

They can be popular songs, advertising jingles, famous speeches, radio broadcasts, or any other sound recordings – as long as they’re Australian and more than 10 years old.

All Australians can participate, and  may submit up to three nominations.

Help us select the next sounds – Nominate now for 2018.

Men At Work”Down Under” Released in 1981, was one of the very first entries into NFSA established in 2007. This catchy pop song was written as a light ‘tongue-in-cheek’ dig at Australian values. It became a number one hit in Australia, the UK and US and is still played regularly today as an unofficial Australian national anthem. Check the full list of winners to date here
